Where does India stand today?

The current situation in the geopolitics is more dynamic. Nations are fighting to restore their lost credibility, move ahead in the marathon of Artificial Intelligence, Fight for their rights, instill the confidence among their nation countries on their own model of deals and governance. Amid all these global turbulences, India is moving forward with its own zeal. We are the country of 141 billion. We are more diverse than another country in the world. With all these given parameters, we still enjoy our own peace and face with our challenges.

When the world nations are fighting for their oil, We Promote alternative form of greener energy like solar and hydrogen fuels. When the nations are striving hard to import technologies, we leap our leg deep in to the Semiconductor industry and invent our own chips. This is the era in which war between the nations are not based on the old age ideologies like Imperialism, Colonialism. This is the era in which nations fight for GPUs, Rare earth minerals, and evolving technologies. India does not play a backdoor game in this era of dynamic changes.

Though not completely, Substantially, USA has lost its hegemony and supremacy. There are lots of turbulence in its internal governance. Amid all these turbulences, it claimed that The President of US(POTUS) has stopped more than 7 wars after. So, POTUS claims ‘Noble Peace Prize’ for him. But when it comes to Iran,Althose talks of peace and claim of noble peace prize will be hidden from the scenario. Today, USA is striving to restore its lost reverence in the world order. But that’s not going to happen as countries were awake and started developing internally.

The civilizational stalwart, China has its own problem of demographic dividend. The rapid ageing population of China is real threat to its growth story. China’s major problem is, it cannot coincide or co-operate with the world nations as it has its own history of growth story. Any nation can’t survive on its own in the emerging world of dependence in a longer run. But China would make all other countries depend on it for all the petty goods. This is however not going to help China in long run. China has both strong pros and cons.

Seeing all these consequences behind the growth stories of 2 different nations, India’s story is quite adorable. No country in the world except our neighbour, needs India to fall. Beginning from our foreign policy till the local governance we are inclusive and adaptive. The only nation that could sign a trade deal with USA and buy Russian Oil is Ours. The only nation which could talk with the leaders of Israel and Palestine is us. The only nation which could peacefully focus on its development when there are major wars on, is India.

Many may argue that everything works well for India right from demographic dividend to foreign policy. Even if it’s agreed to a certain extent. There are certain challenges before us to enrich our global presence.

India is the youngest country in the world with 64% of people are in its working age population (15 to 59 years). When the population is younger, it doesn’t necessarily translate into productive population. India has to address the issue of ‘Jobless Growth’. India in order to compete with the world leaders in this era of dynamism, it has to focus more on giving employment opportunities for those who are capable to be employed in Secondary Sector/Tertiary sector. India missed the bus in late 1980s and early 90s by giving more opportunities in tertiary sector. Tertiary sector cannot employ mass population as it requires professional skills. In order to tap its underlying potential of its young demography, India needs to focus more and more inclusive job creations. That stands as one of the primary challenges for India. India is known for its human resource. It is up to us to captivate and materialize the same.

India has enormous reserves of rare earths and Critical Minerals. No Semi-conductors, microchips or any gadgets for that matter would be possible without these elements. It took more than 6 decades for us to realise the need of those minerals. The world is running behind this rare earths and Critical Minerals. Currently China dominates in mining and processing of the same. Currently, more than 50% of the demand of Critical Minerals and Rare Earth Elements are met exclusively from China. Before China monopolizing this sector globally, India needs to look for uncovering its potential. The foremost thing that India started doing is, focusing on Research and Development of techniques to mine, process, and make industry ready of those extracted minerals. Indian Government has to invest a lot in R&D for the same which India started doing. If India misses the ship in this sector now, it cannot retrieve it anytime in the near future.

The most crucial challenge for India is relying on external players for meeting its fuel needs. Though it is inevitable, we must look for alternatives in a mission mood. As said earlier, the dynamics of geopolitics is changing rapidly. World order will not be the same after half-a-decade or a decade. India should promote shift towards greener energy among its fellow citizen. As India took a lead in digitizing the financial transaction and acted as a role model for the whole world in the digital era, India should also take bold initiations in promoting greener energy and motivating its people to move towards greener fuel. Again, India needs to promote R&D in this sector for benefitting out of it in a larger move.

When it comes to artificial intelligence, Indian youths have easily adopted it comparatively. When looked on a broader manner, it’s still a threat to the privacy of many unaware users. As reported by Google in its study along with Kantar, a career study organisation in last April, around 60% of AI users in India use it without complete awareness. This may end up in catastrophe in revealing some privacy content to AI. So, People must be educated in a larger manner. As AI has penetrated into every sector, Government must inculcate AI as a customized academic subject with respect to the courses and not as generalized academic subject. Our young professionals must be promoted in a large number in choosing AI related courses, Companies must employ those who have knowledge on AI, Companies must promote its employees to take educational leave to enrich their knowledge with AI.

As India is known as a ‘good will nation’ among the world countries, India should look at its priorities in reforming sectors that has underlying potential of taking our nation to the invincible heights. As said by our Honorable Prime Minister in UN General Assembly in 2021, “When India grows, the world grows”, Our growth history is not by humiliating others or plundering the wealth of others. It is purely based on the hard work of each and every citizen. Thus, India stands as a peaceful yet powerful abode amidst the rupturing geopolitics.
