Space Sight!

ISS is a modular space station in the lower Earth orbit to accommodate satellites that is being launched and to keep the world under observations. The ownership of this ISS is collectively taken care by NASA(USA), JAXA(Japan), ESA(Europe), CSA(Canada), and Roscosmos(Russia). Any countries can send their satellites to this space station and they can do research on their objectives by getting prior permission from these space agencies of 5 countries. To say in simple, As we have ISRO in India, ISS is for space.

This keeps on revolving the earth's lower orbit and it is designed to fly at the speed of 17500 miles/hour.

Now, let's come to the core discussion. This ISS is said to fly over Chennai on the dates mentioned in the link and we could see this with our naked eye. This will be visible only before sunrise or after sunset as sun's rays would bleach their appearance to us.

Below are particulars given by NASA for better view of the same.

As said here, it's visibility ranges from 1 min to 7 min and it also changes every day. Height at which it could be visible is mentioned here in degrees from horizon. Horizon is the point where sky and earth appears to be intersected. The direction of appearance is also mentioned. This direction also changes everyday and below are the explanatory notes for abbreviated directions:

N-North
S-South
NNE-North by North East
SSE-South by South East
ENE-East by North East
SSW-South by South West
ESE-East by South East
NNW-North by North West

The direction in which the visibility of ISS would disappear is also given here.

Disappearing in the sense, as the Earth keeps rotating the ISS will move below the horizon and we couldn't see it.

Here time of visibility of ISS is given in our local time zone for our convenience.

ISS will look like a bright star moving across the sky. It is said in this link as it would be visible like a typical airplane.

This is all about the content given in the link. We wonder how science could accurately predict everything! International Space Station plays a major role in that.

India is planning to send its own space station which is indigenous by the year 2030. This space station would be completely manufactured in India and without any foreign assistance. India is planning this after the missile Gaganyaan which is to be launched to accommodate the people to the space. Gaganyaan's process started by ISRO.

Happy Sunday!
